Dear Friends,
A long time has passed since the last edition and I feel a bit bad about not posting but actually nothing really important things have happened at Mas des Brun.
Mother Nature has actually worked well and done Her job. Cereals have growned and, at the end of July, we have cut them to let them dry on the ground. Soon, we will put the hay and the seeds for another little vegetation which won't go far as winter will be there. Then, it will be time to plow a last time and plant and Dear Vines.
On the Olive Trees side, after the severe cut, they have made made lots of new branches and we even anticipate a little olive crop. Zero treatments have been done since the "fly disease" does not reallyt affect trees with not much fruit on them.
As far as the Bees are concerned, they seem to have adapted quite well in their new environment. A cold and wet spring has delayed a bit the flowers and then a very dry summer has not permitted to produce much more...which ended up in a very very tiny honey production, even if it is more than enough to make us happy.
In the next coming weeks, I will be back on more paper works, declaring our future vine parcel, waiting to know how rights to plant I will get for 2015... And, here a LAST MINUTE HAPPY SCOOP (actually while doing this edition, I called the administration) : We have been allowed with 0.8 Ha (almost 2 Acres) ofrights to plants in 2015. Hurray !
Hope you had a great summer and wishing you a colorful Fall
Cheers,
Jean-Marc @ Mas des Brun
You both have done wonders with the new farm and lands. Congrats and so glad you are enjoying the process. Many regards to you both!
