Assembler
Our cellar with full tanks and a few used barrels
Dear wine lovers,
Now that all the grapes have been pressed, it is time to fill the tanks at 100% their potential (note that during the winemaking, they are filled up to 80% with both grape juice and marc) since the wine can't be in contact with air.
This means that we have to make choices about which tank must be blended to the other one, having in mind that we are planning to elaborate two kinds of wines.
To help us fill the tanks, we will use smaller ones like these used barrels that will welcome our best blend for 10 months.
Our wines are now aging and the most urgent works in the cellar is almost done. That gives me time consider marketing aspects :
- We are leaving the label poll give its outcome (so it is still time to expression your opinion) and at this point I would like to thank you SO MUCH for your massive votes (about 1,800 votes so far) and for all the comments left which help a lot in the final decision.
- At last, I am working on a wine club offer for our dear readers in order to respond to all the requests we had on how to get our wines.
Cheers,
Jean-Marc Espinasse - Domaine Rouge-Bleu

I like #12 and #20 (would like this one quite a bit with a cool typography following the contour of her torso). ;) Good luck choosing one out of so many nice designs, Jean-Marc!

Jean Marc,
We are so excited about you wine. Cannot wait to learn how we can get it here in the US to enjoy.

Jean-Marc,
My favorite is definitively number 6. If I have to give other choices, I should say (in order) number 11, 24 then 12.
Are you expecting to sell your wine in the USA one day or do we have to travel in France to taste it? Let us know.

Jean Marc,
I prefer numbers 17 and 20 as labels. Bonne chance!

I think that No.17 is the perfect label for your Wine, It captures the entirity of the whole Rouge bleu ethos

So many good designs! Number 6 is very charming and distinctive just as show. Number 21 is elegant although the blue is a bit purple.
Speaking as a woman, the images of women don't have the right appeal.

A difficult choice but number 37 stands out for me. The Sun says it all! The colors and textures are great. It made me smile and I would have picked it up in the store immediately. The sun is an essential ingredient for wine. I agree with the others who have commented about images of women to sell products it is also negative to me. I would pass it by. Thank you for sharing this process. I hope you have great success.

Looking at the results of the voting, I hope you have and intend to use a casting vote for the one YOU like best. Given your background, you should have a better idea of what will work than most of the rest of us. Frankly, I am shocked by the results of the poll. I accept that my views may be considered those of an old fuddy-duddy, but what on earth does the shadowy profile of a woman having a bad hair day have to do with an effective marketing program for your wines?

I'll be in France next August, let me know where I can buy your wine if we can't get it in the U.S.

One suggestion and 2 comments:
Suggestion: PLEASE put the final top vote getters (perhaps top 5 or 6) along with the one you designed (if it is not included in the top choices already) up for our voting once again as finalists. There should mostly like be a clean "break" in the votes as to which are the top choices in this first round of voting. Then we can vote again on the finalists!!!
1st Comment: Help us decide what will be your approach to "marketing" the wine (i.e. expensive and special occasion vs. daily and more affordable. This will help us decide if we choose somthing whimsicle (like # 6) vs. serious (like # 31); complex vs. simple etc.
2nd Comment: Blue and Red are colors that normally do NOT go well together in graphic arts. I would choose one where both blue and rouge are featured on the label but also includes white (or even black) for contrast (like # 3, # 19, # 31). I like # 32 a lot for that reason. Also, #9 could work if you move the grapes a little lower so that the Rouge can start on the lighter blue stripe background since you can't read the letter "R" on the darker stripe now. # 24 also does a good job of dealing with these colors as well.

16 and 32 first attracted my attention.
However, I prefer 13, but..., I find the top left “blue corner” and the “sort of red leaf” don't add anything at all!
I much prefer the font used by Jean Marc for his own label (September 4th) than the one used for 13.
Hello Jean Marc,
I could imagine a label with design 18, keeping the colours as they are, design resized properly and with black extra space all around the design (more extra space for top and bottom than for the 2 sides if label goes vertically, of course).
Letters in white, on black background
otherwise, letters in black,
except for Rouge-Bleu (in red and in blue)
Font -> the one you used on your 4th September label would be brilliant.
Essential words ->
Domaine Rouge Bleu, Vin de Terroir, Vallée du Rhône Sud
Composition of the wine (percentage)
Mentioning organic aspect is important too.
What do you think?
All the very best!

Just adding a few words to the comments sent on 23rd Oct 2007 (05:33 PM)
a/ I forgot to mention that the year (2007) needs to be mentioned too.
b/ About "black space" all around with white letters --> if not black, perhaps very dark purple.
